So, when do you use your JK audio device vs. interviewing your guest on Skype? I seem to recall you strongly pefer Skype over anything coming through the phone line. Which leads me to another question. If I have DSL and use Skype, the call is still passing through the phone like. So what’s the difference and should I still interview on Skype or buy the JK audio device???

Maybe you answered that early in your video by saying, if you simply can’t take the chance of having an audio glitch or having to redo the interview, you use the JK device vs. Skype? Thanks Cliff. That was a great video episode.

@Joe If the person on the other end is on a Skype on their computer and they have a headset, I prefer to have them on Skype for the interview. Oh, and they have to have decent bandwidth for the audio to sound good. It works about 90% of the time.

However, what I DO NOT like to do is to use “Skype Out” to make a call to someone on the telephone.

As you know, Skype is voice over IP and compresses the audio. So when you take a 8000hz telephone call and compress it further, it even further reduces the audio quality of the person on the other end.

It’s really not that bad. But there is the issue of when Skype decides to occasionally drop the call, computer crashes, etc.

If I were only going to talk to someone on the phone once a month, I’d do skype out. But I use my broadcast host daily to talk to people and prefer the reliability it offers.

    Hope this helps

    Cliff
