An Unpolished Approach to Podcasting

In this episode, I started off by sharing some technical woes that I have had over the last two days. Learn what the three pieces of audio equipment are that I have had over the years that have needed to be replaced. I think it is worthy to mention that my original Edirol R-09 recorder had recorded well over 2,200 podcast episodes before the 1/8″ line input jack developed a short in it.

Dave called from Australia about an iTunes review that he posted. I explain how you can go in and edit a review that you’ve previously posted, should you ever want to do so.

Walter called in with some constructive feedback on what I call my “unpolished approach to podcasting.” Of course, I very much value Walter’s feedback, especially in the spirit in which it was given. However, I very much like the natural feel of letting my audience experience what I was doing, as I was doing it. I believe that Dave’s call, the first call in the show, is perfect to explain that my show is not just about the technical content. There’s much more to it than just sharing information in a professional, polished, totally prepared way. Some people like more tightly produced audio. I prefer a more laid back approach. My suggestion to all podcasters is to find that place where you are most comfortable and understand that your content is not going to appeal to everyone.

I share a little bit of what I found while attempting to do my Blog Talk Radio experiment. I explain why I decided to abandon the project before it really got started.

Other topics covered in this show:
* Can I do effective podcasting and new media work with HugesNet Internet Access?
* How can I go about screening calls using TalkShoe?

Discuss podcasting with other listeners in the Podcast Answer Man section of the gspn.tv Community Forum.

PODCAST CONSULTING: I’m also available for one on one podcast consulting. Whether you want someone to get everything set up for you or you just need a little help along the way, I’d love to work with you. I’m able to demonstrate using screen sharing technology during our call which makes it just like I was there sitting next to you at the computer. Dave, any chance that you'd take this comment and actually copy and paste it on the same post at http://PodcastAnswerMan.com? If not, no worries. If you do it, I'll then copy and past my response there.

The gspn.tv comments don't get read as much as what does on my actual http://PodcastAnswerMan.com site.

Dave... LOL The Podcast Angry Man.. Maybe I should re-brand.. Love it!!!

Seriously... I'm just having fun... And I love that I own my own business and I run the show. I am FREE to be who I am and to do what I want with my show. I don't have to worry about tarnishing anyone else's reputation by my own.

And If my reputation is that I'm a little awkward, then so be it. Because the truth is that if you were to hire me, you'd get the guy who hear in the podcast, not an edited, more polished version of me.

I want my clients who pay me $150/hr (current rate) to know what they are getting themselves into. ;)

Can I just say I am LOVING the new Cliff! Man, you're angry today! But in a cool, super-focused and productive way. ROAR Talk Shoe Radio. ROAR Walter (although I completely agree with you Cliff - the way you podcast the 'Answer Man is actually in my view more conducive to me wanting to be a client than otherwise (since I'd want to talk to you in an informal fashion as my guru).

Please keep up the awesome work as Podcast Angry Man. This episode ROCKED!
