  • Hey Cliff, just a quick theory (and pardon me if this is the wrong place to put it) but what do you think the chances are that UnLocke is actually a genie. Obviously, Terry O'Quinn looks NOTHING like Barbara Eden, however both seem to materialize out of smoke and claim to grant wishes.

Check out this Wikipedia entry on genies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genie

Apparently the notion of genies (or jinns) figures into Islamic belief. According to Wikipedia, which I KNOW isn't always a great source, the Islamic version of Satan (“Shaytan” also known as “Iblis”) was a genie who lived amongst the angels but was expelled for refusing to bow before Adam. After his rebellion, he was granted a respite to lead humans astray until the Day of Judgment. It goes on to say that the jinn occasionally assume human form to mislead and destroy their human victims.

In last week's episode, Jack tells UnLocke “what bothers me is that I don't have any idea what the hell you are” and UnLocke replies, “sure you do” as if Jack would be familiar with what he is. That leads me to think that UnLocke's true identity is going to be something most of us are familiar with. ANd that may be a genie. Or it may be Satan. Or both.

To quote the Stones' song Sympathy for the Devil, “Pleased to meet you -hope you guess my name. But what's puzzling you is the nature of my game.” Sounds like UnLocke to me!

I sure enjoy your podcasts. Keep up the great work!

  • Bob, this is a fine place to put this. In the future, you would find a much greater experience in having many more people read and respond to you theory at http://gspn.tv/forum. However, I'll add this to the show notes of our next weekend show.

    Thanks for listening!
