In this episode of Pursuing A Balanced Life, I share my thought process as I ponder if the next step in my business would be to hire an employee or if I should simply stick with contracted workers. I lean toward the model that I have seen work well with Dan Miller.

Also in this episode, I share some thoughts on how I am evaluting the ranking of each of the different podcasts that we produce here at gspn.tv.

I really enjoyed listening to this.  I found you through Pat Flynn and listened to many of your other shows...but his show and this episode really resonate with me.  I'm in the same situation at almost the same point as you..."sorta."

I've hired people before and have always ended up being disappointed.  The legalities, worker's comp, FUTA, SUTA, benefits etc...are certainly a big consideration but that's not why I've switched to using freelancers.  Basically, I've found that I get a better value and a better work product and more appreciation for the business and what I provide as a business owner from someone for whom I am a client instead of an employer.  Go figure.

So I'm still muddling through this myself.  You mentioned not having specific business training and feeling somewhat limited by that.  Well, let me tell you, I have a business degree from a great school and nothing prepared me for entrepreneurship.  Creating something from nothing is not for the weak, that's for sure.

I am so heartened and inspired by this podcast because so many of your concerns, feelings, angst, etc...is just like me...makes me feel not so alone in this entrepreneurial journey.  It's lonely sometimes being the visionary and creator of ones business.

Kudos and please keep the podcasts coming!
