gspn.tv Weekly Round Up 9/2/10
Hi gspn.tv Fans! This is Carole from the Community here again bringing you the Weekly Round Up. Of special note this week is the Business Tech Weekly Episode “Making Calls From Your Computer Using Google Voice”. This is pretty fun – Cliff “reports live” as he tries it out on the show right as they are recording. It sounds pretty cool – possibly an alternative to Skype and it’s been integrated right into the Gmail page. I decided to take a peek at it myself, and because of that, I inadvertently ended up learning something very useful and surprising, which I’ll tell you about in a minute…
Right now, here’s what rolled out on the GSPN feed in the last week – go get ‘em while they’re hot:

Podcast Answer Man 175 – Zune Podcasting and Zoom H1 Digital Audio Recorder Review
In this episode, Cliff is delighted to share an interview that he had with Rob Greenlee from Microsoft’s Zune Podcasting department. In the conversation with Rob, we learn why so many podcasters had not be able to get their feeds listed in the Zune podcasting directory. Cliff is very happy to announce that any podcaster who wants to get their show listed in the Zune Directory can do so by emailing Rob@Zune.net. Speaking with Rob has helped renew some passion for the fact that Microsoft is paying to employ someone who’s purpose in the company is to support podcasters. This is very good news!
Also in this episode, Cliff is delighted to let you know that he has finally received his review unit of the Zoom H1 Handy Digital Audio Recorder. The H1 review portion of this episode was actually recorded on the Zoom H1 recorder. Cliff goes into detail about his concerns with the Zoom H1 Recorder and gives his recommendation on whether this device is a good option for some people.

Virtual Assistant Podcast 020 – Try Until You Find the Right Virtual Assistant For You
Today Cliff is joined by Jacqueline Sinfield who is an ADHD coach. Jacqueline is a registered nurse, qualified counselor and has a degree in psychology. Jacqueline was diagnosed with severe dyslexia when she was twenty-eight. Her struggles with dyslexia have aided in her work with clients who struggle with ADHD. Jacqueline’s book “Untapped Brilliance: How to Reach Your Full Potential as an Adult with ADHD” shares with readers how to reach their full potential as an adult with ADD or ADHD tendencies. You can find out more about Jacqueline by visiting her website UntappedBrilliance.com
Jacqueline shares with us her experience in finding the right virtual assistant. It took Jacqueline three attempts before she found the right VA for her. As the old saying goes “The third time is a charm!” Here are some of the topics they discussed:
* How long did you stick with your first VA?
* What was it that made you think the VA was not a good fit for you?
* How did you go about asking for a different VA?
* How long did you stick with your 2nd VA?
* What was it that made you think the 2nd VA was not a good fit?
* How is it that you didn’t give up?
* What convinced you to try a 3rd time?
* What would you say to someone who tries 3 times and strikes out all three times?
* How are things with your current VA?
* What advice would you give someone who is looking for a VA in regards to setting proper expectations up front?
…and much more!

Cliff would like to invite you to check out http://gspn.tv/divineoffice for more details about this generous sponsorship.
Cliff invited Dane and Greg to help answer some questions that he had about the Liturgy of The Hours, a spiritual discipline that I admittedly knew very little about. If you are interested in investigating this topic further, check out DivineOffice.org.

So, fellow gspn.tv listeners, I mentioned that I was poking around with Google Voice and it occurred to me that I didn’t know if my laptop had a microphone or not. I knew there was a “hole” in the front of my computer with a little picture of a microphone, but was that just a “line in”, or an internal microphone, or what? So I googled my laptop brand and model and discovered that I indeed DO have an internal microphone, AND I discovered how to set it up as well! I’ve had this laptop for two years and I’m embarrassed to say I had no idea I had a microphone – D’oh! See – you never know what you might learn by listening to Cliff – even by accident! :-D
What’s the coolest (or funniest) thing YOU ever learned because you listened to a gspn.tv podcast? Leave me a comment and share!

Hi gspn.tv Fans! This is Carole from the Community here again bringing you the Weekly Round Up. Of special note this week is the Family From the Heart Episode “Celebrating Fourteen Years”. They give a much more real portrayal of married life than anything you’d see on tv. Whether you’ve been married a short time, a long time, or haven’t married yet, there’s something here for everyone.

Podcast Answer Man 174 – How to Get an All Expenses Paid Sponsorship to Attend a Conference! And Podcamp Boston 5 Information #PCB5
Podcamp Boston 5 Trip Sponsorship
Last week, Cliff inserted a short note about the fact that he was looking for a sponsor for his trip to Podcamp Boston 5. Cliff was approached by two companies who had a strong desire to sponsor the trip for both Stephanie and Cliff! Cliff is proud to announce that Dane Falkner from DivineOffice.org is paying ALL EXPENSES for Stephanie and Cliff to attend Podcamp Boston 5. When he says all expenses, he’s talking round trip air fare, hotel accommodations, meals and transportation while in Boston, admission to the conference, AS WELL AS the costs for quality childcare for our three children for four days.
(Please click here to see more show notes that go into much greater detail about how Cliff was able to secure this sponsorship and what the sponsor is getting in return.)
So what’s the big deal about Podcamp Boston 5 anyway?
First off, if you haven’t heard of a podcamp before, simply check out http://podcamp.org for more details. Boston is a major social media hub on the East Coast. Boston is where Podcamp First Started! Boston is a very beautiful city to visit. Cliff attended Podcamp Boston 2 and the relationships he made there literally helped him launch his business.
Podcamp Boston is a 2 day event!
More people will travel farther distances to attend a two day event.
At single day events, hardly anyone shows up for pre-podcamp parties.
At single day events, hardly anyone sticks around long enough for the evening party. At two day events both the pre-party and official podcamp party are HIGHLY ATTENDED!
Networking & Socializing!
It’s not all about the sessions! At least not for Cliff. Some sessions will be really great. Some sessions will be absolutely horrible. Cliff plans on spending more time in the hallways than in the sessions. He plans to meet as many new people as possible. The Parties Are Great Places to get to know people. And he is hoping to find just the right dinner party to attend!
It is simply an enriching experience. Cliff has been to a lot of podcamps at this point. Podcamp NYC 2 was another great two day Podcamp. However, It’s hard to beat the original. You should attend Podcamp Boston 5!
That’s all Cliff has for you this week. He’s simply going to ask you to head over to http://gspn.tv/divineoffice and leave a comment thanking Dane and the team for making it possible for he and Stephanie to attend this event. As the result of their sponsorship, you’ll be able to experience it from Cliff’s perspective.
And that’s a wrap for last week!

So, fellow gspn.tv listeners, I must confess – when I saw the title of the Virtual Assistant Podcast this week (Should I Hire A Virtual Assistant to Blog For Me?) I thought, “Gee, I’d better listen to this to see if I’m losing my job!”, LOL. Well, luckily Cliff made no mention of kicking me out, but it definitely was an interesting podcast. I’m not sure how many business owners realize how helpful an internet presence and a blog that keeps providing fresh, new information can help them. And you probably didn’t realize you could hire a VA to do it for you, either! Out of curiosity, I went to Contemporary VA’s website and took a look at the application to be a VA, and WOW! I couldn’t believe all the skills they recruit for! If you’ve never listened to any of these podcasts because you didn’t think a VA could be useful to you, you really should take a listen – you would be amazed what skills these VAs have, and the tasks they can take off your hands so you can spend more time makin’ the money! (And hopefully Cliff is keeping his VA Andrea way too busy to have time to do the Community Blog, LOL!!)
See you next week! Carole

Hi gspn.tv Fans! This is Carole from the Community here again bringing you the Weekly Round Up. Of special note this week is the Help iGot a Mac episode “New iPods this Fall”. Even though I don’t have a Mac computer, I like to listen to this podcast because they often talk about other Apple products like iPods, the iPhone, iTunes, cool new apps, etc. This particular episode is a must listen if you have “jailbroken” your iPhone, or are thinking of it. Also, they have some promising information about the rumored CDMA iPhone coming out (an iPhone that you can use with another carrier besides AT&T) as well as some teasers about what the next version of the iPod Touch might be like. Pursuing a Balanced Life 475 – My Catholic Weekend Part 1 of 4
In this episode, Cliff begins a four part series where he attempts to share as much as possible from his recent trip to Boston for the CNMC (Catholic New Media Celebration) hosted by SQPN (Star Quest Production Network). Cliff was invited to come and speak during the event, as an expert in the field of podcasting and new media.
So what was it like for Cliff, a non-Catholic, Protestant, Christian to attend an all Catholic conference? In this first part of his four part series, Cliff sets the stage by explaining his history with the Catholic Church and his first impressions when asked, by Father Roderick, if he would be willing to come and speak with him.
Here are the links to the talks that Cliff gave:

Session 2 Recorded on Ustream
Session 3 Recorded on Ustream
Pursuing a Balanced Life 476 – My Catholic Weekend Part 2 of 4
This episode covers the reaction of the SQPN board of directors when approached with the concept of having Cliff, a non-Catholic, come as a prominent speaker at this Catholic New Media Conference. It also covers most all the events from Friday, August 6th, including the official SQPN Meet And Greet.
Virtual Assistant Podcast 018 – What Does it Take to Become a VA?
We have received in and answered a great deal of questions about what a virtual assistant is and how they can can help you to be more effective, efficient, and profitable in your business. Please continue to call us at 859-795-4067 with your questions, comments, and testimonials for future episodes.
Today, we answer a question that has come up a good deal and it is “What does it take for someone to become a VA?” What are the skills and educational requirements of becoming a VA? What about benefits like health insurance? How long would it take to be able to book a full-time schedule of VA work? We cover all these questions and more in this episode of the Virtual Assistant Podcast.
Today’s featured guest is Heather Villa. Heather is the founder of CVA (Contemporary Virtual Assistance). CVA is also the generous sponsor of the Virtual Assistant Podcast. While this show is an entirely independently produced production of PodcastAnswerMan.com and gspn.tv, Cliff could not pull off this weekly show without both their financial support as well as the resources provided to him in helping find the answers to all your questions!

Pursuing a Balanced Life 477 – My Catholic Weekend Part 3 of 4
This episode actually covers the official CNMC event itself as well as Cliff’s attendance of a Catholic Mass. It was the first time in 24 years Cliff had been to Catholic Mass. He actually considered not releasing this episode. In fact, this episode is very heavily edited. In it’s original form, Cliff feels like he had shared a little too much. Cliff wonders, as he posts these show notes, if there is still a little too much shared here. However, as Cliff listened to the edited version back, he does feel that he gives a very genuine and authentic reaction to what it was like for him to attend this Catholic mass.
Cliff wants to say, for the record, that he found the folks from SQPN to be among the most generous, caring, and charitable people he has ever met. He felt at home with them and very much felt as though he was a member of their family.
Pursuing a Balanced Life 478 – My Catholic Weekend Part 4 of 4
This episode covers everything following the official CNMC event, including the Boston Social Media Tweetup that Cliff organized and a totally awesome 24hrs spent with his dear friend, Fr. Roderick Vonhogen.
After you get a chance to listen, feel free to leave a comment on the blog! You can help motivate Cliff and inspire others by providing your audio feedback for the podcast. Call the voice mail feedback line directly at 859-795-4067. You can also email an audio file to feedback@gspn.tv.

If you want to hear all about Cliff’s weekend trip to Boston, he would encourage you to start with Pursuing A Balanced Life episode 475 which is the first episode in a four part series titled “My Catholic Weekend.”

So, fellow gspn.tv listeners, if you remember, last week I encouraged you to “like” some of our friends of gspn.tv on Facebook (Mardel and the Simple Good Life Network). Well, speaking of Facebook, for the first time I tried some of the games. Ohhhh…that was bad! Now I finally realize why so many people are always asking for stuff for their farm, LOL! I myself started playing Farmville (ultra popular Facebook game), and I decided to search and see if there were any podcasts on iTunes so I could pick up some tips and tricks. Not surprisingly, I found one and listened to it. At first I was like, “Boy, this voice sounds reeeeallly familiar…..” Then I realized that it was none other than our friend FR. RODERICK VONHOGEN (who does the Biggest Loser podcast with Cliff and with whom Cliff just attended the CNMC (Catholic New Media Celebration))!! I couldn’t believe it!! So, I think this week it seems meant to be that we show some Community support for another good friend of gspn.tv, and “like” Fr. Roderick’s SQPN Network page on Facebook. (By the way, NBC’s Biggest Loser returns for the Season Premiere on Sept. 21!)
Anyway, Farmville is my new favorite pastime as I wait out the horrible heat of this summer! I am counting down the days until fall as I plow my little Farmville fields, LOL. Stay cool, my friends!

From Cliff’s and Eric’s description, it sounds really interesting – I know nothing about how Facebook got started, and I don’t even know who started it or how. They played the trailer (which by the way has a really cool song originally by Radiohead, sung by a Belgian Women’s choir, of all things) and it sounds like one of the rare movies that I would actually go and pay $10 to see in the theater. It’s ironic that they happened to be talking about Facebook this week, because although I’ve been on Facebook for quite some time, it’s only the last week or so that I started playing the games and interacting more with my friends on Facebook. It’s been a Facebook-y kind of week for me, LOL. More about that in a minute…
Right now, here’s what rolled out on the GSPN feed in the last week – go get ‘em while they’re hot:

Virtual Assistant Podcast 016 – Interview With Jason VanOrden Part 2
In this episode of the Virtual Assistant Podcast, Cliff is excited to have Jason VanOrden of InternetBusinessMastery.com join him to share some of his experiences with using virtual assistants in his own internet based business. This episode is part 2 of 2 of their conversation. As promised, this second half of the conversation with Jason really has some great insights on how we can break through barriers that hold us back in the pursuit of the work we love. Cliff loves Jason’s response when Cliff asked him what he should do when he gets to the place where he’s accessible to everyone via email and they are turning to him for that personal one on one interaction? Listen and learn what Jason means when he says Automate, Streamline, and Outsource?
Some of Cliff’s notes from this first portion of the conversation include:
* ZenDesk.com
* Pelotonics.com
* CentralDesktop.com
* Mastermind Groups

Podcast Answer Man 170 – Why I Still Highly Recommend Blue Host
Cliff’s not kidding when he says that he packed in a TON of information into this episode. Here is a list of items covered.

* YouTube increased to a 15 minute limit of videos uploaded to their servers!
* Thoughts on using Archive.org for media hosting for podcast episodes

+ Business Tech Weekly 042 – Online Backup Solution – BackBlaze
Biggest Loser 036 – Losing It – TWICE!
In this episode, Fr. Roderick and Cliff discuss the wrap up of Losing It With Jillian. They also share how this was not the first time they actually recorded an episode regarding the end of the summer series. While original plans may have been to try and recreate some of the discussion that happened the week earlier, the conversation took a very interesting turn in the discussion of how pursuing a life of purpose and meaning could be beneficial in the start of any plans of losing weight.
Podcast Answer Man 171 – Bonus Video – How to Add an Addon Domain with Blue Host
Cliff doesn’t often send video episodes into the Podcast Answer Man feed. However, he wanted to share a short little bonus video that he created for the folk who had purchased his WordPress for Podcasters video tutorial.
The reason Cliff decided to share this in the feed, this week, was to give you a sample of what his video training products look like. As you can see, he takes both audio and video quality seriously when producing his training products. After capturing a screencast tutorial, he does a great deal of post production, panning and zooming at the important parts of the screen, so that you can see exactly what each step in the process looks like.
In this bonus video, Cliff decided to record the process that he needed to go through to launch a brand new website that he’s going to be working on over the next few weeks. The website that he’s launching is called WorthSavingFor.com. The details of what this site is all about will be released in the near future.
