Welcome To The Balanced Living Weekly Podcast

The Balanced Living Weekly Podcast was a show that I, Cliff, produced with Fr. Roderick Vonhogen from SQPN. The show originally started out as the Biggest Loser Fan Podcast. However, when the tv show would end its season, we wanted to continue our show.

Eventually, we decided to rebrand the show as the Balanced Living Weekly Podcast. In January of 2012, Fr. Roderick and I both decided that we were going to practice what we preach by rearranging out schedule to increase the level of margin in our lives. It is for this reason that we made the decision to end show.

Biggest Loser PodcastIn this episode of Balanced Living Weekly, Father Roderick talks about going on 20 mile run. Cliff talks about the advantages of reading on a Kindle in comparison with the iPad. Check out http://gspn.tv/kindle3review. Cliff also talks about how he managed to burn over 1000 calories by walking 8.2 miles, despite unpredictable weather.

Father Rodrick brings Cliff up to date on the Biggest Loser and what has taken place on the past two episodes. Finally everyone finds out what a burpee is as the show is closed out with three pieces of audio feedback.

Biggest Loser PodcastIn this episode, Cliff shares some experience he had while away from his business for ten days and the results of the seven day cruise with his family.

Father Roderick shares a brief update about the Biggest Loser and how they missed an easy opportunity to provide some nutritional information with one of their challenges.

Father Roderick also shared about a chicken health scare in the Netherlands. It turns out that new evidence from Dutch research indicates that eating chicken can cause resistance to antibiotics in humans. Non-organic chicken are often raised in a couple of weeks, living with no space, sitting on top of their own excrement. That’s why they get sick. Hence the antibiotics. Cliff shared that he had been reading the auto-biography of George Mueller.

After several days of quiet self reflection, Cliff has concluded that the one truth that God has been laying on his heart during this time is that…. “Any occupation can be used to serve the Lord, but certain principles must be followed in secular work. The Christian must guard against any attitudes or practices that will keep him from experiencing God's, abundant prosperity. God is not likely to bless anything that leads a believer to depend more on himself or his circumstances than on the living God.” This is a direct quote from George Muller.

Great show gents,

It seems like you are helping me becoming the person that I was meant to be through helping me connecting with a group/community of like-minded people.

As a result of listening Father R and Cliff I have created my own call to action – I spend too much time on the computer, so…… staring yesterday I'm cutting the time I spend on the computer by at least 50% and spending more time enjoying vigorous out door exercising – hiking, walking, biking, gym workouts, planning my life and planning my meals/nutritional intake.

Seems like this community can and will empower, motivate, encourage (plus mush more) its members to:

* Learn what our PURPOSE is and how to learn to fulfill that purpose.
* Ask ourselves – who are we meant to be? And how do we learn how to become that person – how can we learn to overcome the challenges that lie before us?
* Make a commitment to what you want in life – there is no substitute for commitment.
* Learn the importance of focusing on our priorities – a healthy body and a spiritual mind helps create a amazingly powerfully state of serenity.
* Plus much more.

You guys are on to something, this I know.

Cliff’s Week At The Gym:
Last week, I made it my goal to start getting back into my intentional physical activity. The weekend was difficult because Stephanie was away for the weekend and I had all three children to care for. This is more of an excuse than anything. Looking back, I can think of several things that I could have done and involved the kids in physical activity with me.

I had decided that I wanted to start going to the gym early in the morning, before I start my work day. I put on my calender hoping it would all work out. Monday came around and I slept in until about 8am and didn’t go to the gym. However, I did go to the gym about 6pm Monday evening for an hour.

Tuesday came around and I, once again, slept in until about 8am. However, I actually had a 90 minute break in between consulting calls and I ended up going to the gym at 2pm and running a 5K on the treadmill.

As I am typing the pre-show show notes, it is Wednesday, October 13th and I woke up at 6:15am, I weighed in, had a very light breakfast, and I’m heading out the door to the gym.

Just as a side note, my weigh in was not good. The past few weigh ins, I’ve seen increases on the scale. I’m now up to 223 and I had made it as low as 212. It’s been a very slow climb back up and I know it’s my lack of daily physical activity and the fact that I stopped counting calories. I’m headed back to the gym and I’m back to counting calories. I hope to have a very good update next week.

Biggest Loser Podcast

This week, Father Roderick had some technical difficulties and Cliff is joined by Stephanie as they discuss season 10 episode 2 of the Biggest Loser. In this episode, Stephanie also gives Cliff some much needed nudging and accountability. It's amazing how easy it is to loose steam and it's also amazing how difficult it is to get back on that horse and find that much needed momentum to keep moving forward. Cliff is hoping that it has more to do with all the traveling that he's been doing and that he can break this bad cycle of non-activity and get back into the calorie counting and hard core workouts.
