If you haven't heard of Business Tech Weekly... Check it out at http://BusinessTechWeekly.com

Stephen recently posted a great review of DropBOx here in our forum.  You can
CLICK HERE to read all about DropBox.

This week, we have a call asking what are some of the different solutions out there for sending large files to customers?

Personally, I have a hosting account.  I simply use FTP to upload larger files into a sub-folder on my directory called /TempOnly

For those who are tech savvy, I just send them the URL of the file.

For those who are less tech savvy, I create a dummy temporary page (hidden from the public) where I create a HYPER LINK to the file that says "Right-Click Here To Download"

Drop Box, as mentioned above is an easier solution, but my solution works for ANY FILE SIZE without any additional cost.

What other solutions are out there?

You Send It      http://www.yousendit.com

They have an iPhone App that allows you to track the files you send. Like FedEx Delivery Tracking.

Up TO 100MB Free

$9.99 for up to 2GB

Doesn't Mobile Me have some of this functionality now?  Can someone share about that option?

You Send It has gone down the drain. It used to be 1 GB for free, than later even 2 GB for free. Now only 100 MB? Meh. I do the same and use FTP for anything.

That said, my sisters use the following:

We use yousendit.com a ton at the office when sending large photo files. I have found it easy to use.

Depending on how technical the client is I try to use FTP. Services get bought, come and go, but FTP is going to be there.

I'm a drop.io guy myself, because it has a built-in widget in Firefox.  we'll explore a lot more this week on business Tech weekly.  Please excuse the typos, I have a thumb injury and am doing all my typing ViaVoice using Dragon NaturallySpeaking

I use my personal FTP for clients. But for my students, I use iDisk through my MobileMe account. It's really easy. You just upload the file, click to share it, say how long you would like to share it (the default is 30 days), and send the link to the person of choice.

Another option that's rather unorthodox is simply using direct file transfers via Skype. I use this method a lot when I need to get a file moved to an individual in a hurry. Last week, I transferred a .exe of Office 2007 (328MB) to a co-worker in Kansas City in 45 minutes.

These are great ideas.  Thanks for sharing them!  I will likely need a service like this very soon!

That just takes me to a log in screen for a service I've not heard of.

Andy, you need to enable sharing of the mind map. Even though I have a Mind Meister account, I can't view that map. So enable the sharing for nonmembers.
