Hey yall.  Did anyone watch the new series Flashforward?  We watched it last night and I have mixed reviews.  I did read the book first, so I was expecting more of the book story, but the TV show went in a different direction.  I still think that it is going to be really good.

The story had a lot of Lost references.  From the numbers, to billboards of Oceanic Air, to signs advertising the Hanso foundation.  And don't forget Penny and Charlie.

What are your thoughts?

I did not know much about this show until about a week ago or so.  I had no idea it was a book. I is such an interesting idea for a story.   I liked it so far.  Loved the Oceanic Air billboard.  I had no idea Dominic Monaghan was going to be in the show until I saw the preview for next week.  I am excited to see him in anything!!

I also loved the preview for V !!

I enjoyed it. Off to a good start. Great premise, we will have to see aobut the follow through.

It is replacing Heroes in my TV watching rotation.

I'm excited. I just wish it wasn't on Thursday since I'm recording Bones, Fringe, The Office, and Community as well. But that's OK because it's a good show so far!

Episode 2 was good. The last line of the episode creeped me out a little bit. My only complaint is all the mini-flashbacks when a character mentions something about his or her flashforward. I know it's a way too keep audiences up-to-date, but I feel like it's dumbing down the show a bit.

The start was pretty good in my opinion, but I think it is getting weaker with the weeks. The last episode (Believe) did not touch me at a moment, while it seemed that that would be the goal it had. I liked the whole CSI like approach, I enjoy the FBI part more then the rest. I just dont care that much about the characters (yet).

Did anyone watch the spring premiere?

I am "in" for the rest of the season, but boy was this (esp the 2nd hour) a not-good episode.

The concept is so good, the potential is so high, some of the actors are so talented ...... what is going wrong?

I have an answer for you Professor Alan.  It's the only problem for me.  Pacing.  If they speed it up, just slightly I think it would be much better.  The story, acting is good but it's so dragged out it makes it hard to watch.

For example there was no drama, tension in when those two were being held in the basement or whatever and being asked questions and then his finger gets cut off? Seriously? That was suppose to be like a high/impact like scene but it wasnt for me.   If this was suppose to be like a mafia guy like asking questions they need to rewatch Godfather movies and see how its done.  Or some Law and Order maybe.
On the other hand, they had nice twist at the end which was a great one (I wont give it away) which I really loved so I don't want to give up on the show.  Dominic Monahan's character is totally fascinating and a joy to watch on screen.  there really is a lot of potential.  Perhaps the writers are confused as to which kind of show this is suppose to be. Character driven or action.

Seriously! Why now when it just started to get good.  I understand that people stopped watching because it had some bad moments but it picked up.  Ugh.
This was a discussion I was having with some family members of mine.  I kept watching Flashforward and it got better so they started watching again.  I had stopped watching V because I thought it wasn't going to get any better, but they my sister said it got better.   So I started watching V again.   V gets renewed for a second season and Flashforward doesn't.  I just don't get it.  Both series got better after the halfway point.
