There are more bonus points available for Week 6 of the PABL Challenge.  Simply share something you struggle with while Pursuing a Balanced Life and you will earn 2 bonus points.  Maybe that's not so simple, if you prefer to get 3 points, say so.

I struggle with eating healthy food. I am going to college and usually eat at the university Mensa. More often than not, they don't have vegetables (or, at least, not the kind of vegetables that I eat). So, my goal of eating healthier is not easy to achieve. Nevertheless, I won't give up so easily. Thanks to this challenge, I go home and cook; even if I'm tired and don't feel like it. It's not easy, but it's doable.

I have (finally!) developed healthy habits when it comes to diet and exercise, but I also struggle with using my time properly. This affects my sleep habits, my working hours, chores around the house, my relationship with my wife (who likes to be on time for everything, and would love to see me leave for work on time). It's why I have chosen two of these problem areas for personal development in the PABL Challenge.

Stephen, you said " if you prefer to get 3 points, say so"

I would prefer to get 3 points  Wink

Mainly because I have been having a bad time recently with a recurrence of my arthritic condition.

I agree, I prefer 3.  I could use them!

My biggest struggle is eating at night time.  I know I shouldn't do it because it keeps the weight on.  I try not to eat 2-3 hours before bed, but it's sooooo hard!!!

My struggle is that I need to manage my time better. I need to find a good balance between all of my responsibilities & hobbies, etc. The personal improvement goal is the hardest part of the challenge for me, not so much the physical activity or the nutritional goals.

I'd love the 3 points!

A big struggle I've been having the past few weeks is that I feel like I'm doing everything right but I'm still exhausted all the time. I've been eating well, exercising, taking a day of rest, and getting at least 7 hours of sleep a night. (I know 7 isn't the best, but it's much better than the 5-6 I had been getting). I talked to my doctor about it, and she suggested it could be from the work I'm doing at hospice. Though I'm very passionate about it and don't feel that it's too exhausting, it is more draining emotionally, and therefore physically, than I realize. It's new and after 4 months my body just isn't quite adjusted. I finish my internship this week and will still be volunteering, but not the hours I'm doing now. So I'm waiting it out and hopefully I'll catch up on some rest after this week and feel a bit rejuvenated.

I am a stress eater.   Looking back at my tougher days, its days when I have higher than normal stress.  I'm trying to convert stress easting to stress exercising.

I am also a night time eater.  I often work late hours and like to snack.  I have managed to turn that eating into healthy eating.  Instead of fighting the urge to snack I save room for snacks and crunch on good stuff.

Any tips?

I am struggling with keeping my calories in the range I want them to be, 1300-1500. Going out to eat is hard too. I am working on my snacking. Sometimes its hard not to have extra treats. This week is Secret Elf week and normally I would be getting candies and other treats. This week, I've gotten a banana and peach yogurt. But the candies and treats are around.

@Stephencross, I don't work late hours so I can't give you tips with that. I try to keep 7pm - 7 am food free. Its a 12 hour diet kind of thing. Snacking on good stuff should help. Good luck.

Nutrition-wise, my biggest problem is eating out.  Even when I have a plan or commit to ordering healthy, I have a hard time actually doing so once the sights and smells of a fave restaurant hit me.  Mostly I avoid going out as much as possible, but I can't always hide from the world!  Smiley

Exercise-wise, it's finding/taking the time to get the minutes in.  I work 50+ hours a week, many times six days a week.  I'm so tired when I do get home, that the thought of a 45 minute session with my fave workout DVD is daunting.  When I can, I walk at lunch, but that's not always possible.  And try as I might, I am NOT a morning person.  I can get up early to get to work, but not for exercise.  Tongue

3 points would be awesome....

I have a real big problem when it comes to sweets. I just can not limit myself. When I start eating sweets I can not stop. It is impossible for me just to eat "some" sweets. Whenever I start eating I will not stop. Even when the sweets are gone I will eat other stuff.

I struggle with stress eating and making bad decisions when  I don't have time to cook.

Of course, I would prefer 3 points.

I struggle with finding the time to exercise 1 hour a day. With working 60-70 hours a week (out of necessity not because I'm a work-a-holic) I feel torn between spending time with my husband and kids and being gone that extra hour to work out. As it is I have to split up the time doing a half hour before work and a half hour after work. Sometimes going in for that second round of exercise can be a challenge.

My biggest struggle is cooking at night - after a long day at work it's the last thing I want to do. My partner won't cook though, so I have no choice.. but sometimes it is so tempting just to get takeaway!
