gspn.tv Weekly Round Up 11/12/09
Hi GSPN Fans! Here I am again with the weekly round up for you. I’m glad I still managed to find the time to listen to lots of gspn.tv podcasts this week despite the fact that things seem to be ramping up around here with the holidays approaching. Speaking of that, we are hosting Thanksgiving for about 18 people, so I’ve been trying to get things done here and there. Today as a matter of fact, I made a Scandanavian dessert for Thanksgiving. More about that in a minute…
Right now, here’s what rolled out on the GSPN feed in the last week – go get ‘em while they’re hot:
+ denotes podcast released for Plus Members only
Podcast Answer Man 134 – Video – Studio Tour
It’s not very often that Cliff puts a video episode into the Podcast Answer Man podcast feeds, let alone a 30 minute one. However, the community has been begging for a video tour of the gspn.tv studio for the longest time.
Until recently, he’s never been happy with the video quality that he’s gotten with his video projects. That has all changed now with his Kodak Zi8 pocket HD Camera.
In this video, Cliff explains how he uses each computer in his studio as well as shows you the the equipment that he makes use of in his podcast productions.
+ Pursuing a Balanced Life 440 – Running Late
+ Help iGot a Mac 097 - Moms on Mac
+ Social Media Serenity 017 – What Does Google Know About You
I think many people would be surprised at the type and amount of information Google collects. However, Cliff and Erik do tell you how to change one of your settings to give Google less ability to collect your info.
Business Tech Weekly 009 – Video For Your Business?
In this episode, Andy Traub and Cliff Ravenscraft discuss the use of video for your business. It’s a great tool for communication and something that is becoming more and more popular. There were discussions about the various options for putting your video online. When it comes down to it, the important thing is that you simply put your content out there for people to consume.
Some valuable take away points are as follows:
1. Avoid paralysis by analysis – don’t wait for perfect
2. If it’s really bad…keep practicing till it’s at least presentable.
3. Great content will make up for lacking video professionalism.
4. Be a thought leader – If you do it first or say it first, that will help you have greater impact.
Also in this episode, we give a preview of our special guest for next week’s episode of Business Tech Weekly where we will be interviewing Jason Fried of 37 Signals.
+ Greys Anatomy 067 – Invest in Love
Family From the Heart 083 – A Grood Movie Review
In this episode, Cliff and Stephanie share some feedback that had come in as a result of last week’s episode of Family From The Heart. Cliff mentions that if you haven’t checked out the Community Blog, you should check it out at http://gspn.tv/blog. Also, it’s not too late to sign up for the PABL Challenge.
Cliff and Matthew share their review of Disney’s A Christmas Carol.
A major announcement was made that Mardel.com has said that they are renewing their contract for sponsorship which will mean that they are sponsoring this podcast for a total of two years so far. (Use Promo Code GSPN in the shopping cart to say thank you and get 10% off)
Stephanie also shares the Kenna Fed Ex story.
By the way “Grood” is not a typo – you’ll have to listen in to discover what “grood” means! :-)
Full Time Mom 106 – I Turned Into That Mom
Desperate Housewives 030 – Be Careful the Things You Say
And that’s a wrap for last week!

So, I made something called “krumkake” – similar to the Italian pizzelle, but usually the krumkake are rolled while hot into a cone shape. You can fill the cone with whipped cream if you want – they are REALLY good, but time consuming to make and you have to have a special iron to make it. I have an electric one and I spent
all afternoon making krumkakes. (The one pictured is too small, it was one of the first ones I made – I got better at it as I went. :-) In fact it’s a wonder I can do the Round Up this week with my scorched fingertips (from rolling the hot krumkakes)! :-P They’re all safely tucked away in the freezer now to wait for Thanksgiving. Is there something you make for the holidays that is a lot of work or tricky? Leave me a comment and tell me about it!
See you next week! Carole
