I'm so excited to announce a brand new feature to our Lost edition of the “generally speaking” podcast! Last week it was a dream, this week, a REALITY! What am I talking about? Of course, I'm talking about four guest hosts on the show with us in our panel discussion on the Hunting Party episode.
This week, Stephanie, Racheal, and myself invited Darcy Pach back into our living room, a brand new Lost-A-Holic! And via Skype, we had Erik Fisher from Milan, Indiana, Rem Lavictoire from Calgary, Alberta Canada, and Dr. Matthew Bruder from
Chicago Michigan Somewhere in this U.S.
Rem, aka Chris Gilmore, is actually our professional announcer for “generally speaking.” Dr. Bruder is the man behind the music of our new theme for our podcast! Thank you guys for collaborating with me on the theme! Erick is one of our listners who respnded to my request last week for folks to send us an audio comment to tell us why you think you should be brought in as a guest host.
Two quick notes. First, editing was much easier this weeek. However, I want to apologize in advance for the audio levels that are not completely “level.” This was a test run of Skyping in Guest Hosts. It went very good for our first run! I've invited all our guest hosts back for next week's shown and we may have Tim Jellyman from the UK as well as Dane from Miliwaukee.
As donations continue to come in, we will be able to purchase the audio mixer that will allow us to have the number of inputs needed to do this with a lot less “issues” in setting up the recording system.
On with the show notes….
We first talked about Michael and the Computer. What does Michael know about the computer? Does he know as much about computers as he does about blast doors and architecture?
Stephanie shares her thoughts on Sun & Jin: She's very excited to see her able to speak her mind and that Jin responds in a way that a loving husband should. Definately a big turning point in their relationship.
We discussed teh X-RAY. Take a look at this screen cap…
After discussing this, I'm sure this is just yet another “mistake” on the part of the props department. I don't believe that this is meant to be a clue as to the date in the Lost World!
Small mention on the “Redemption” theme and the fact that being on the island is like a gift to the Lostaways!
Rem share's his thoughts on the conversation between Locke and Jack. “I think this nails the key difference between Jack and Locke, and further, it shows a fundamentally clash of ideologies between cultures described in Daniel Quinn's book “Ishmael”. The central theme of the book is an examination of the idea that humanity has stewardship of the Earth.”
I went on the record that I believe that Zeke is “Gerald Degroot.” I referenced this SCREEN CAP! We played the clip… From the dawn of our species, Man has been blessed with curiosity.” This is directly quoted from Alvar Hanso. This quote can be found on the Hanso Foundation Website.
Next, I shared that I belive that DANIELLE'S DAUGHTER ALEX IS FOUND!
NEW THEORY!!! ZEKE IS ACTUALLY MY FATHER-IN-LAW!!!! Give me some time…. I'll get a picture of Stephanie's Dad and do a side by side photo with “Mr. Friendly.” Somebody remind me if I don't have this by Wednesday!
We discussed the Torches real Quickly…. Here's a screen cap….

NEXT-[Audio Clip] “You go over a man's house for the first time, do you take off your shoes, do your feet up on his coffee table? Do you walk into the kitchen and eat food that don't belong to ya? Opening doors to rooms you've got no business opening [Looking at Locke].”
Darcy mentioned Zeke's Gun, which was a Luger Pistol! Is there a military connection!
If you have time, you should read up on these two items and see how they relate to what may be happening on the show..

So who is Geronimo Jackson? Is this really an album with music on it? From The Official Lost Podcast… A listener asked, is the music important? ” Response.. “There is stuff coming up in the next couple weeks. You might wan to keep your eyes peeled for Geronimo Jackson's audacious debut. They're a band not a lot of people have heard about. They just pressed one very obscure album in the mid to late 70s. We enjoy unearthing songs that are not the type of things you hear on oldies radio. They help us establish the mood and the setting; the period that the hatch was built.
WE DVR VIEWERS GOT JIPPED!!!! THE ENDING WAS CUT OFF!!! Our friend Kim emailed us after the show… “I have a special request…I know that you're busy with getting ready for the show tomorrow…but I need HELP! For some reason my DVR did not get the last few seconds of the show.” We discussed why this happened to soooo many of us!
Some Good Threads Found On The Fuselage.com:
–Is Sarah really pregnant?
–Is the Real Sawyer, Locke's dad? “The kidney stealing Anthony Cooper, is really named Mr. Sawyer- the same Mr. Sawyer who was responsible for the deaths of James Ford's (Sawyer's) parents. Since Anthony Cooper was so good at conning his son out of a kidney, he might have been the long time conman who once had an affair with James' mom and stole her money. — I personally love this theory, mainly because Sawyer and Locke are two very interesting characters who we rarely get to see interacting.”
–How did the Others light those torches without seeing any visible light from a flame prior?
–What did Zeke Accomplish? “What was the purpose? To tell them that they are in danger, duh, I think they already know. To let them know that they were being watched, I think they know that too. The lostaways are already afraid of going into the jungle, they rarely wander much further than the hatch….I just don't understand why Zeke didn't interact more with Jack, Sawyer and Locke if he didn't intend to kill them. Zeke didn't have to reveal whatever he was doing with Walt, but he could have told them, “We've been on this island for 8 years, there's no way off.” or “If you find anymore hatches, don't eat the food, it's ours” or something instead of, “if you cross this line, I'll kill you” Basically I'm wondering what was the point of the conversation? Was it just to entice Jack into crossing the line? Another psychological experiment?”
OFFICIAL LOST PODCAST REVEAL…. It is OFFICIAL! D.H.A.R.M.A. is an acronym. An Anagram is a word or phrase formed by reordering the letters of another word or phrase, such as satin to stain. An Acronym is a word formed from the initial letters of a name, such as WAC for Women's Army Corps. SO WHAT DOES IT STAND FOR?
Dane from Milwaukee, WI called in…
Edith B. wrote… I just listened to your 23rd Psalm Podcast, and you just added another fan to your base. I'm going back and t listen to the earlier ones. In fact, I had to donate some money to make sure that you stay on. The silliness mixed with the serious discussions is awesome. Best of all is your Blog where you back up your theories with the screenshots. Of all the LOST Podcasts I listen to, this one, “generally speaking,” is the best. (pun intended)
Dr. Bruder asked… Where can I purchase an “Official generally speaking” shirt? ;-) Sense I hope that I am the first person to ask about this, when you do start selling them, I hope you reserve the first one for me.
Terrence W. wrote… I am extremely interested in the set up you use for recording and editing the show. Is there any chance on your blog or in show, that you could make reference to the tools, sound equipment and editing suites you use?
