Three PAM Episodes Per Week?
In this week’s episode of Podcast Answer Man, I explain why I had recently given a great deal of consideration to the thought of producing three 20 minute episodes or two 30 minute episodes, per week, instead of continuing my production of one 60 minute episode each week.

There are three reasons I had considered this change. First, I thought it would be good practice to apply the SCORRE method to each of my podcast episodes, having a focus on a single subject and one objective for each episode. Second, I thought it might make it easier to turn the archives of this podcast into a knowledge base where it would be easy to point people to a show with a single topic per episode. Third, I knew that if I doubled or tripled the amount of episodes I produced each week, I knew that it would increase the number of downloads that iTunes tracks, thus increasing my ranking and exposure within the iTunes podcast directory.

Ultimately, I came to the decision that I will not be moving to multiple episodes per week based upon three potential drawbacks. It would create a break in my consistency. I fear that I would end up overfeeding my audience, and it is simply a great deal more work to produce three shows in a week as compared to a single episode.

Why Don’t I Have Thousands of People Listening To My New Podcast?
I recently received some feedback from Michael Fiorre wh left the following comment on the show notes for episode 305.

Hey Cliff, how ya doin? I’ve been listening to you for a little while now and I really appreciate what you’re doing. I’ve learned a ton from you! You’re tutorials have been amazing. I do however have one question. I always hear people say things like…”I just put out my first few episodes and have thousands of listens”. How is that possible? Because I started mine and I got nothing. lol. My website is coming along rather nicely. I’ve designed it myself including all the graphic art (it’s a work in progress).  
 
So Im sitting here saying to myself “awesome, I have the podcast set up great. Im on stitcher, Blackberry, and iTunes. The websites starting to look great. The images have all been sized correctly and put together. The artwork was just re-done the other night. Facebook page is up and running, as well as the twitter. But at the end of the day there’s no one listening to The American Rubbish. Are we a work in progress, yes I believe so. Are we comedians? No! Are we funny enough to have a few listeners, yes!  
 
So whats going on here Cliff. You’ve gotten me this far, any tips on how to take this home now? Facebook is a great outlet but many people I know barely know what a Podcast is. I know you have this A to Z course, but Im broke so thats kind of an issue. lol.

I had an amazing experience at the Social Media Marketing World conference that was held last week in San Diego, California. In this episode, I share why this conference was not only a huge win for me, professionally, but I also share why it was a major win for Podcasting as an industry.

The title of this episode is a direct quote from Michael Stelzner’s keynote address. Social Media Examiner did a study to uncover new trends in social media marketing. In that study, they had asked “what social media networks are you’re currently using” and “what are all the social media related tools that you are using?” The results showed that only 3% of marketers are currently using podcasting in their social media marketing strategy. However, 32% have a desire to learn how to use podcasting in their marketing efforts and 23% have plans to increase their podcasting activities in 2013.

For some reason, this is one of those episodes of Pursuing A Balanced Life that I considered deleting without publishing it to the feed. I’m not completely sure why that is. However, one thing that I have learned after producing more than 500 episodes of this show is that the episodes where I feel this way tend to be the ones that folks enjoy the most.

I just returned from a super amazing trip to San Diego. Things literally could not have gone better than they did. As I have come to expect when returning from such a trip, I found myself with a case of the post vacation blues as I am transitioning back into my work routine.
