Hello,

I have Google Analytics for two of my websites but I recently heard Cliff talk about Woopra.  My questions are:

1) Does anyone run GA with WordPress?  If so, do you use a plugin or did you simply paste the code in somewhere in your theme?

2) Do I need an invitation to use Woopra because the install seems to indicate that

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I use both Google Analytics and Woopra.

I am not a fan of Plugins unless they are "essential."

That said.. I put the code from Google in the "footer.php" file just above the </body> tag  This way it gets loaded on every page that is loaded on the site.

Woopra: You don't need to have an invitation code, but you do need to sign up, enter your site information, and then wait.  And depends on when you sign up... you could wait as little as 24 hrs and as much as 24 days.  No real rhyme or reason on this one.

In short, I use both!  I put both of their codes in the footer as mentioned above.

I use both, and Analytics works fine.

Woopra is much more buggy, but from the main site I don't think it's an issue of playing well with GA, I think it's more of an issue about the tool itself.

I find that I often lose days of data or am unable to access the stats from my sites, and GA shows a good amount of activity (spammers mostly) that Woopra does not. Perhaps the spammers are blocking javascripts from running?

I like the Woopra interface - learned about it from one of Cliff's podcasts. And from the forums there, the issues I'm having seem to be fairly common and come and go... so it's probably a good tool for the casual "wonderer" about who's visiting your website or as a supplemental source of data, but I wouldn't count on it as an exclusive source of web traffic data.

I agree that Google Analytic are more reliable.

But There is just something that is fun about watching what is going on with your site in real time.

I like to see how "carefully worded" twitter posts can literally drive thousands of people to your site.

These tools help develop strategy.

You may be interested in AI Digital's Podcast Episodes 41, 42 & 43. http://www.ai-digital.com/index.php?p=acc

They cover Analytics in all three.
